The Sharks Need a Coach!

We are an Under-11 boys team looking for a coach for next fall.  These are some particulars on our team, and the person we are hoping to find.

  • Our team is the Sharks.  The league is San Francisco Vikings.
  • The oldest boy in the class was born 7/3/1999, so the boys will play U-11.
  • All of the boys attend Cathedral School for Boys in San Francisco.
  • We would ideally like to have two practices per week in addition to the Saturday games, beginning in late August or the first week of September, and ending in mid-November.
  • We are flexible with regard to practice day(s), except that Thursday is not possible.
  • In terms of the person we are looking for, the most important things to us are that he: is an experienced coach who can develop the boys’ skills; enjoys 9 year-old boys; and models and expects respect and good sportsmanship.

I am the Sharks parent contact.  My information follows:

Looking for experienced Soccer Skills Coach for next Fall’s (VIKING -SF) Season –

$1200 /season

We’re looking for an experienced soccer coach to partner with existing (parent) coaches to help build the soccer knowledge and skills of our 3rd grade (Viking boys) soccer team -  Our soccer season runs from September 12th to November 12th and there will be at least one practice prior to our first game. The specifics of our practice days and field are not confirmed yet, but we are planning on practicing either on Wed or Thursday (between 4-6 pm) on a field in either the Glen Park or Noe Valley neighborhoods.  Games will be played on Saturdays in SF Viking league locations.

Most of the boys on the team have played Viking for 3-4 years so we’re looking to give them exposure to more effective soccer coaching techniques, especially in key soccer skills development areas (e.g. dribbling, passing, shooting, position play, etc.. ).

For a soccer coach who has the demonstrated skills and passion for helping 3rd grade boys move to the next level, we’re willing to pay up to $1200 for the season.

If interested, please contact Bob at 415-547-3238.

Women’s Team Looking For Coach

We’re a women’s premier team in the SF Golden Gate Women’s Soccer League. We formed last year through the merger of two former premier division teams, but many of us have been playing together for several years (or more). We’re a fun but competitive team, and we placed third in our first season together this past fall (and actually beat the second place team in both match-ups).

We’re currently looking for a quality coach who can commit to being there from warm-ups through a post-game talk on all game days (we have 10 spring league games, played on Saturdays starting on March 7th). We have historically opted out of mid-week practices so we could play together in a separate weeknight league, but we’re open to weekly or bi-weekly training sessions with our new coach.

Ideally, a coaching candidate would have extensive playing and/or coaching experience at one or more of the following levels: competitive youth club soccer, ODP, adult premier. We are all open and eager to elevate our level of individual and team play, so we’re looking for someone who can provide us with guidance and manage playing time on game days, help us develop our style of play, and (of course) enjoy some beers with the team at our sponsor bar after games!

Finally, we have devoted funds for a coaching stipend when we find the right person. This is negotiable and can be discussed when we meet with candidates. Please send inquiries and coaching resumes to Breeze Curran at herbreeziness@yahoo.com, and I’ll follow up promptly to schedule a time to meet. Many thanks in advance!

Cheers,

Breeze Curran
